Mad Men are taking over the fashion world! Okay, not really but the hit show, but it’s the 50s and early 60s style fashion eye candy that’se creating a trend title wave of epic proportions.
So long, for now, to Carrie, Sam, Miranda and Charlotte….hello Betty, Joan and Peggy!
It was really noticeable in the Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 runway show where he channeled Mad Men and everything feminine, flirty and lady-like. Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara wore one of Marc’s fall dresses to an event in Hollywood recently. The perfectly polished full skirts, kitten heels, pearls and stoles exude an effortless glamour. Vintage stores are being flooded by clients searching for 50′s and ’60s styles, and mention “Mad Men” by name.
This trend has been on fashion designer radars for some time, we’ve seen hints of this look almost every season. Magazines often showcase Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn’s classic style look in their pages no matter the year, or season. The key to pulling off this elegant and classic style is the silhouette.
